Patrick Murray is a hardscape and landscape business owner, systems strategist, and leadership coach based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is a husband to his wife, Charissa, and a proud father of three young kids who keep his life grounded in what truly matters. Patrick is a lifelong cyclist, coffee enthusiast, outdoor adventurer, and builder at heart. His faith, family, and calling to help people grow drive everything he does.

Patrick is a Managing Partner at Local Roots Holdings, which includes Local Roots Landscaping, Landscape Supply of Pittsburgh, and FRWRD Coaching. Local Roots Landscaping is a multi-million-dollar design-build and maintenance company serving both residential and commercial markets, with deep roots in hardscaping, construction systems, and scalable field operations. Patrick has spent over a decade building real-world systems for estimating, production, sales, finance, and leadership inside an actively growing landscape company, not from theory, but from the trenches.

Like many owners in this industry, Patrick has lived through rapid growth, financial pressure, operational chaos, leadership strain, and the painful gap between revenue and healthy systems. He has navigated restructuring teams, stabilizing cash flow, rebuilding margins, rebuilding trust, and learning what it truly takes to scale without burning out the leader or breaking the culture. Those seasons forged his obsession with clear systems, accurate data, disciplined execution, and people-first leadership.

That passion led to the creation of FRWRD Coaching, where Patrick now coaches landscape, hardscape, and construction business owners across the country. His work focuses on LMN implementation, financial clarity, production control, sales systems, leadership development, and building companies that run on rhythm instead of reaction. Patrick is known for helping owners turn messy operations into clean systems, align leadership teams, and use real data to make confident decisions.

Patrick’s philosophy is simple: the business should serve the leader, not consume them. He believes that structure brings freedom, clarity creates peace, and disciplined systems unlock both profit and purpose. His coaching style blends operational truth, financial accountability, leadership growth, and deep personal alignment.

Through Local Roots Holdings, Patrick also launched the Life on Purpose Initiative, serving team members and their families through hands-on support during real life needs, as well as the Local Roots Freedom Project, a ten-year vision to raise one million dollars to combat human trafficking and restore victims through trusted global partners. To Patrick, profit is fuel, not the finish line. Impact is the mission.

I’m a coach and the founder of Local Roots Landscaping, based in Pittsburgh, PA. Over a decade ago, I started the business out of the back of a Honda Civic—too inexperienced to know I needed a truck, but just stubborn enough to keep going. What began as a hustle quickly turned into something deeper: a passion for building, leading, and creating opportunities for people to grow. Over the years, Local Roots has become a nationally recognized, design-build-maintenance company, built on the shoulders of an incredible team and a relentless commitment to doing things the right way.

But the path wasn’t easy. I’ve experienced firsthand the weight of leadership, the toll of burnout, and the pressure that comes when a company grows faster than its systems. At one point, that pressure broke me—physically and emotionally. I landed in the hospital, forced to confront the reality that I couldn’t outwork broken beliefs or lead others well while running on empty. That season changed everything. With the help of people who cared more about me than my results, I rebuilt—not just the business, but my approach to leadership and life.

That story is what drives my work today through FRWRD, where I coach growth-minded business owners who are scaling companies and hitting friction—operational, emotional, and cultural. I help leaders find clarity, build healthy rhythms, and create organizations where people thrive. I don’t pretend to have all the answers, but I know how to ask the right questions—and I bring real-world experience, truth, and accountability to every conversation.

Outside of work, I’m most at home outdoors. I love hunting and fishing my way around the world, and I’m incredibly grateful to share life with my amazing wife and our three young boys. They remind me every day what really matters—and why this work is worth doing.
